The news that President Donald Trump donating his salary without a doubt made headlines and shocked many, but it also seems that it have gotten to the point where it concerned a 9-year-old Tennessee boy, which was shocked to learn that the president was only going to take a $1 salary, so he offered his help.
“I thought, how is he going to eat or drink,” said Eli’sha Davies, adding “Or, you know, pay, if he needs to pay his water bill or anything.”
Eli’sha then went as far as to tell his mother, Melissa, that he wanted to send some money to Trump.
“My first impression was like, ‘You’re going to give your money away again,’ cause he’s been trying to save it up for a mandolin,” Melissa revealed, adding, “But at the same time, I was like, I don’t want to discourage his generosity, and I think it’s sweet.”
Eli’sha‘s letter was sent to the White House shortly after President Donald Trump was sworn into office, enclosing his donation of $3.
And as the months passed, the 9-year-old forgot about his letter, until another response letter showed up at his doorstep. The response envelope contained a letter from the president thanking Eli’sha, but explaining how he couldn’t accept the gift, but adding how the boy should instead “look for ways to make a difference” in his community.
“One of the best aspects of my job as President is hearing from young Americans like you, and I am grateful for your and your family’s prayers,” concluded the letter from the president.
