Tucker: ‘Real Tragedy’ of Trump’s Tweets Is That They Distract From His Agenda

Tucker Carlson says the “real tragedy” of President Trump’s tweets about MSNBC hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski is that they’re distracting from his agenda.

In his opening monologue tonight, Tucker said the left is angry at Trump not because he’s offensive or vulgar, but because he’s a threat to them and their beliefs.

“They hate Trump because he’s a nationalist who says the interests of America and its people ought to come first,” Tucker said. “That’s fine. Let them hate him for that. The rest of the country loves it.”

He said the tweets, however, are an unhelpful and unnecessary diversion from Trump’s agenda of helping the American middle class.

“When the president talks about the people who elected him, he wins. When he talks about himself, the left does,” Tucker said.

He suggested that Trump get back to why he was elected: to secure the border, keep America out of pointless wars, replace ObamaCare, bring jobs to the heartland and push back against Wall Street.

“That’s why people voted for Donald Trump. That’s what he ought to do,” Tucker said. “If the press doesn’t like it, ignore them. If members of his staff try to divert his energy to other agendas, fire them.”

“Restore the middle class. If he sticks to that, he will win. If he doesn’t, he won’t”
